10 Killed as Kurdish Farmers, Landowners Clash in Irair
TIEHRAN — Ten persons were warned that the farmers would fight
for their land
killed and several Injured In clashes
between Kurdish farmers and land-
owners In three villages in western
Iran yesterday.
At the same time, more than 5,000
Sunni Moslem Kurds in the town of
Saqqez demonstrated against a provi-
ion of the new constitution that
would make the rival Shilte Islam the
official state religion.
Iran Radio said shooting erupted in
villages near the Iraqi border when
landowners who had lost their hold-
ings as part of the former shah's land
reforms tried to reassert their owner-
ship. Sheik Ezzeddin Hosseini, the
Kurdish religious leader, charged the
army, clergy, and Revolutionary
