Claim your Human Rights – IHRDC’s Evidence Collection Guide, Now on Video

In 2011, the world witnessed millions of people around the globe peacefully demanding their human rights and civil liberties. While less visible than the crowds in Cairo’s Tahrir Square or the marches in central Tunis, the people of today’s Iran continue to push for reforms and call for the protection of their rights as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Aided by social media and technology tools, the Iranian people have become empowered agents in the determination of their own human rights destiny. IHRDC recognizes that information is power. So to mark this year’s Human Rights Day – a day that celebrates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948 – IHRDC is pleased to release a video version of its instructional guide on how to collect evidence of human rights abuses in Iran.

This guide provides simple instructions on how to recognize a human rights violation and properly document the abuse through the collection of documents, video, and testimony. IHRDC’s guide has universal applicability and has been used in contexts as varied as evidence collection of abuses in Syria’s on-going human rights crisis to transitional justice workshops in Sri Lanka.

Please share with your networks and remember that information is power in the Iranian and global struggle to defend human rights.
