• Iran’s Interior minister Montaschemi has justified executions in Iran and indirectly admitted that in the past half-a-year, the mass-executions of political prisoners has taken place • As a result of the Rushdie affair, Iran decided to cease its diplomatic relations with the UK.
• “We judge based on the clear laws in the Sharia” Montashemi stated which state that “members of parties and organizations that fight with weapons and kill people, will be punished by death”. This does not only include people, according to Montaschemi, but also members of political oppositions like the Mudschahedin – regardless of whether they just distributed a leaflet or fight the regime with actual weapons”
