A top Iranian lawmaker has visited Tehran's Evin prison
to investigate the situation of the top Reformist figures
arrested in the aftermath of the election.
“I met with [ former deputy interior minister] Mostafa
Tajzadeh, [ former Vice President] Mohammad Ali
Abtahi and [ senior political advisor to Ayatollah Akbar
Hashemi Rafsanjani] Mohammad Atrianfar in Evin prison
from 8:30 to 12 last night,” ILNA quoted deputy head of
the MajIls Judicial Commission, Farhad Tajari, as saying
on Thursday.
“They were in good conditions. For instance, Abtahi had
a television in his room,” he added. “He also met his
family members and had dinner with them in Evin prison
on Tuesday night.”
“Tajzadeh was all right despite rumors that he had died,” he said. “He will be allowed to contact his family in the
near future but now he is still under investigation.”

Tajari further pointed out that the Parliament members have felt relieved after his visit to Evin last night.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Head of Iran's Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, who is
also a member of a fact-finding committee to investigate the cases of post-vote detainees, visited the Evin prison
on Wednesday night.
A number of top Iranian Reformist figures were arrested during the post-election unrest in the country.
Iran turned into a scene of opposition rallies in protest to election results, which saw incumbent President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad win with nearly two-thirds of the vote.

Esharat-Abad prison It is situated in the Narcotic Units headquarters in central Tehran. ...The stench
of vomit and sweat in the unventilated cells is unbearable. Whenever a detainee dies of torture or
disease, prison authorities file a fictitious report. After the questioning finishes, those who survive are
transferred to the central prison at Evin.== www.debka.corrtfarticle.php?aid=1 399
