Prior Ruling Modified to Place Travel Ban on 50 Baha'i Youth from Shiraz Written by admini Friday, 04 June 2010 01:00 - * HRANA - The sentence issued for 50 Baha'is from Shiraz has been modified to include a travel ban. The individuals, mostly young adults, were arrested in Shiraz on May 19, 2006, for tutoring underprivileged children. They were subsequently sentenced to three years in prison, but their sentences were suspended conditional upon their regular participation in Islamic events and studies. However, as their three year sentences drew to a close, the terms of their sentences were modified to include a travel . According to the Prosecutor of Shiraz, if a defendant wants to exist the country, he or she must post a bail amount of 50 Million Tomans (-US $50,000) prior to his/her exit. The ban is valid for 6 months and may be renewed if deemed necessary. ill
