Report of the Secretary-General on the Situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran 22 August 2012

The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assemblyresolution 66/175, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submita report to the Assembly at its sixty-seventh session. The report reflects the patternsand trends in the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran and providesinformation on progress made in the implementation of the present resolution,including recommendations to improve its implementation. In its resolution 66/175,the Assembly called upon the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to addressthe substantive concerns highlighted in the previous report of the Secretary-General(A/66/361) and to respect fully its human rights obligations, in law and in practice,in relation to a number of specifically identified concerns.
