Reza Malek Severely Beaten in Solitary Confinement Written by admini Saturday, 05 June 2010 20:34 - HRANA — Reza Malek, former deputy of Research and Investigation in the Intelligence Ministry, was severely beaten by prison guards. Mr. Malek has been previously transferred to solitary confinement on May 29th for allegedly insulting the Supreme Leader. Based on reports received by HRANA, after a week in solitary confinement, security prisoner Reza Malek was handcuffed, blindfolded and violently beaten by armed prison guards who were accompanied by Babapour, head of Ward 240. As a result of this incident, Reza Malek's ribs were broken and he fell unconscious. Mr. Malek - who is in critical condition - has been transferred back to Ward 8, and prison authorities have thus far refused to provide him with medical treatment. It should be noted that Reza Malek's prison term ended in May of 2009, but Intelligence Ministry agents have prevented his release because of a video of this prisoner published by Human Rights Activists in Iran. Furthermore, they have filed a request in the Revolutionary Court for a new imprisonment sentence for Mr. Malek. ill
