Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran

The U.N. Human Rights Council established the mandate for a Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran in March 2011 (A/HRC/RES/16/9). In June 2011, the Council appointed Dr. Ahmed Shaheed to the position. He will submit an interim report at the sixty-sixth session of the General Assembly in October 2011, and a report at the nineteenth session of the Human Rights Council in March 2012.
