I . — Letters . I Baha'i Faith / Re: Your front-page article Mon. i day, Dec. 18. We would wish to I point out that the Baha'i faith is I not a sect. The Islamic author jes have themselves officially testified i to its independent status. Antony Alexander Oban, Scotland , BBC on Iran . / I write in Support of Prof i Pullen's letter of Dec. 16. As an Ira - nan who listened to the BBC Per- Sian progr until very recently, when I left Iran, I would like to ex- press my utter disgust at the Per- sian program's inflammatory and One-sided coverage. The BBC's Per- sian news coverage is, at best, dis- creet masterpieces of misinforma tion. To neutral listeners, the BEC appears to have sympathized, if not overtly sided, with those opposing; the regime, and in do.ing so, it is H enacting the Nazi doctrine that news should be given out for in- struction rather than information My relatives, who belong to the Baha'i faith, have had their homes ransacked and burned by the sup- porters of an Islamic republic This may not be news on the BBC Per- sian program but it iS, indeed, very tragic news to me. Am I to under- stand that these people have no human rights because of their faith or is it that, in the opinion of the BBC, everything is allowed to the / Opposition? D. SAADI. — London /
