On September 23, 2021, the Federal Criminal Court of Switzerland ruled that prosecution of Iranian officials for the 1990 assassination of Kazem Rajavi cannot be barred by the country’s statute of limitations. The court found that this assassination was likely to fall within the scope of genocide and crimes against humanity, crimes that are not subject to the statute of limitations under Swiss law.
