          had surrounded a military garrison In new

          The government banned the Kurdish
          political party, and the Army canceled all
          military leaves.
          Kurdish sources denied Ayatollah
          Khomeini's report of a fight in the town of
          Sanandaj, however, and the government
          later said the town was under its control.
          In announcing the ban on the Kurdish
          Democratic party, the government said It
          was seeking the party's leaders, including
          it secretary general, Abdol Rahman Qas-
          semlu, for Inciting uprisings. Pars, the of-
          ficial news agency, reported I I Kurdish
          rebels were executed Saturday night for
          “causing disturbances” in Kurdistan.
          The Kurdish Democratic central com-
          mittee, which was reported In hiding,
          issued a statement appealing to lntena-
          tional organizations for help to s e
          government “from annihilating the -
          lsh people, their children and aged.”
          Meanwhile, the government and the
          powerful Islamic Revolutionary Council
          decided that troops disobeying orders
          would be tried by revolutionary courts.
          Sadegh Tabatabai, the deputy prime
          minister, said those found guilty “will re-
          ceive the maximu m sentence of death.”.
          Some Air Force personnel reportedly
          balked at orders to bomb targets In the
          town the Kurdish town of Paveh.
          The mobilization came after several
          days of fighting between government
          forces and Kurds seekin autonomy for
          their province in western
          Kurt besieged a government garrison
          in Paveb Friday and were not subdued
          until Saturday, when the government
          launched a massive air and ground attack.
          The government said yesterday that the
          death toll at Paveh, estimated in the press
          at 300, included at least 58 revolutionary
          guardsmen.
          Ayatollah Khomeini took to the state
          radio to announce the mobilization as a
          measure to help government troops in
          Sanandaj, about 50 miles east of Paveb.
          “I have been notified that the armed
          forces barracks and units in Sanandaj are
          surrounded by Kurdish rebels and if they
          do not receive help, the rebels will get
          away with all the weapons,” he said.
